11/28/2023 0 Comments Adventures of a false heroI'm going to keep up with the books as they come out on audible and will edit my review if the worst comes to pass. so far they get treated like lea-see wholesome family dynamic-but that can turn sour if done poorly. *minor spoiler for books 2 and 3 ahead* the pseudo-harem lutz gets has an uncomfortable amount of actual little girls in it. she obviously has a growing crush on Lutz but like her biological age its handled more like a 'when I grow up I wanna marry you, dad' situation (the wholesome kind, mind you). she might be my favourite character of the two we spend time with. I also like Lea ( the blue haired girl on the cover) I got a little nervous when you learn she's 19, but thankfully she's still treated like the actual (elf) child she is, sending her into combat aside. here the game mechanics do what they need to to progress the story and that's it. LitRPGs not set in an actual game have a hard time organically justifying the game mechanics (and audiobooks especially have problem conveying stat sheets you'd just skim when reading a book). when you get into the actual adventure part of the story, you find it very light on the 'gaming' aspect of year magic system. it's a little unrealistic that MONTHS of torture didn't leave him a jibbering mess, but I'm fine with 'a wizard did it' considering the setting and story. skip forward a few months and he's beaten, half broken and eager to make a run for it. he's naive at first, but obviously gets that stripped away quickly. until the 1/4 mark it might as well be a clone, yet I listened to the whole thing and the others out at time of writing. When a character in a traditional tragedy understands that there is no turning back and must continue on despite the circumstances this is called tragic: Tragic irretrievability. The subject matter seems to be serious in nature. might as well get it out the way first: yes the book starts out VERY similarly to the rising of the shield hero. The innocent woman seems to be suffering at the hands of someone more powerful. You'll have fun reading this as I have.Tl dr- starts off as a clone but when it steps into its own it takes the best parts of the original along with it. It's all fun and games one second and death and killing the other. And I actually like the harem and the vampire girl, the companionship they show in this book is like no other. The abilities Lutz get are also really good. I also love the start of this book, it was so good. This was a really good addition, and I loved it all the way through. Or take his power for themselves and keep the rifts open. Defeat the Demon King and end the apocalypse. Ten years ago, deep within a rift, a choice was granted. The characters also have a really unique personality, almost reminding me of an anime, all characters have there own quirkiness and keep it throughout this book. System Reborn Vol 1 (Apocalypse Reincarnation 1) by Kaz Hunter. the character progression is good, the world building and detail is also really good. most isekais are written like k-dramas but this one isn't, it's a good part of both worlds of fantasy. he gets alot stronger and gets more companions in the process, another strengths of this book is you can call this book a isekai. one of my last complaints was the Mc didn't get much stronger in the 3rd book, but it all smooths out in this book. The abilities are unique and the Mc gets more of said abilities in this book. The fights are very detailed and awesome. There is alot of fighting in this book, it's personally one of my favorite parts of this book. The first part of this book and the opening chapters are Lutz and his companions going too there first dungeon and conquering it.
